No aloha in Oregon

by Harrold "Haole" A`hole

The U.S. government is spending billions of our money to fingerprint everybody who enters the country, and other countries are similarly retaliating against Americans. Some push for a national ID card. It's supposed to make us safer.

Brandon Mayfield, Brandon Mayfield an Aloha, Oregon lawyer was arrested because "his" fingerprints appeared on a plastic bag that contained detonators similar to those used in the recent train bombings in Spain. There was no aloha in Oregon that day.

Instead, Mayfield was arrested after an FBI expert claimed 100 percent certainty the prints were his. But it turns out they belonged to an Algerian terrorist, proving the FBI was 100 percent wrong instead.

This illustrates that national ID cards and other biometric systems have serious privacy and security implications for all Americans. Instead of providing safety, the biometric of "unique fingerprints" has caused an American to be arrested, jailed and his reputation tarnished because such systems are flawed. Losing your liberty isn't an "oops" type of mistake.

As the government amasses more identity information, more people will be unjustly jailed. With the many billions of people alive today, the likelihood your biometrics will match others grows higher. Are you prepared for a rude knocking at your door?

We all need to give a finger to this bad idea and keep our money in our pockets instead.
